The sensation spread in the city of Burdwan when the CBI team raided the residence of Dr. Tapan Kumar Jana, a well -known doctor in the city as part of serious allegations of kidney smuggling. The action, which started at 11 pm on Saturday night, continued till Sunday morning. When an 8 -member team of CBI arrived at Dr. Jana’s house in Hatishahal area in Mithpukur, the local Burdwan police station was also present.
The doctors were not present at home during the raid, but his wife was at home. During the search operation, the CBI recovered about Rs 24 lakh cash, diamonds and gold jewelry, and precious gems from the house. Apart from this, the investigating agency has also seized the computer hard disk, several important documents, and some digital equipment, which will be sent for investigation.
According to sources, Dr. Tapan Kumar Jana’s name is being linked to an international kidney trafficking racket, which the CBI has been investigating for a long time. It is feared that through this racket, kidneys were provided illegally to the needy patients in the country and abroad.
There has been a stir in the area after the raid. Local people knew Doctor Jana as a prestigious physician, so people are surprised by such serious action against him. Although the CBI has not made any official arrests so far, sources say that serious questions have arisen about the role of the doctor and they will be questioned soon.
