Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that leases will also be given in forest villages. Survey will be conducted in forest villages and the eligible persons who have been left will also be given dusk leases. He said that intensive forest is the identity of Madhya Pradesh, so the forest department should increase its means of permanent income by expanding more in unmatched forest wealth and wildlife tourism facilities. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a review meeting of the activities of the Forest Department at Samtvat Bhawan at Chief Minister’s residence on Friday. He said that the main attraction of tourists visiting Madhya Pradesh is the appearance of the tiger, which is also the main means of income of the forest department. Expand the necessary facilities in the buffer area and take the services of experts. The Chief Minister directed senior forest officials to visit Vantara in Gujarat, see their Wildlife Rescue Center and study the possibilities of establishing such a large rescue center in Madhya Pradesh too.
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajaura, Additional Chief Secretary Van Ashok Varnwal, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Manish Rastogi, PCCF Aseem Srivastava, Chief Wildlife Warden and senior officials were present in the meeting.
Will honor forest workers posted in Naxalite affected areas
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that forest officials and employees posted in Naxal -affected areas in the state will be honored by giving nutritious food allowance and special allowance etc. Along with this, the forest department should also consider giving out of turn promotion to forest workers who have done remarkable performance in forest security.
Three in the five best tiger reserves of the country
Additional Chief Secretary Forest said that all the tiger reserves of the country were graded by the central government. Three of the five best tiger reserves in the country are located on the holy land of Madhya Pradesh. This is a matter of great pride for the state. He informed that in the last financial year, more than 1.67 lakh forest tourists in the country came to the Tiger Reserve. Out of these, more than 80 thousand forest tourists came in three tiger reserves of Madhya Pradesh. There are currently 9 tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh. 258.64 sq km in Sagar district. Notification for the establishment of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary in the forest area has also been issued.
1390 sq km increase in the forest cover of the state
It was informed in the meeting that during the year 2003 to 2023, a total increase of 1390 square kilometers has been recorded in the forest cover of Madhya Pradesh due to the forest friend policies of the government. A target of forest revenue collection has been recorded in revenue income of Rs 1646.07 crore in the last financial year against the target of Rs 1650 crore. Out of this, a dividend of 189.82 crore has also been distributed to forest committees. In the current financial year, a target of Rs 1700 crore one revenue income has been set. He informed that more than 5.67 crore plants have been planted by the Forest Department in the year 2024-25. Meanwhile, bamboo planting has also been done in an area of 7360 hectares under the National Bamboo Mission Scheme in the state.
4.31 lakh hecta. Spoiled forests now converted into good forests
It was informed in the meeting that all the maps of the forest department have been uploaded on the activity portal. These maps are available on Google Earth. Under the Anubhuti program in the last financial year, more than 1.21 lakh participants in 1903 national schools have been given the message of conservation of nature. In this sequence, through the joint forest management method, 4.31 lakh hectares of deteriorating forests in the state have now been converted into good forests. Out of 925 forest villages of the state, 792 forests have been converted into revenue villages. Action is being taken in 66 forest villages of the protected area. He informed that under the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, five sites of the state such as Patalkot, Naro Hills, Amarkantak, Sirpur Lake and Valmi Lake Bhopal have been declared as biodiversity heritage site.
Forest security and fire management response time has come down from 8 hours to 3 hours
PCCF said that under the Forest Safety and Effective Fire Management, the officers and employees of the forest department reached the spot and the response time for fire fighting proceedings has now been 3 hours. Earlier it used to be 8 hours. He said that for fire information, 1.05 lakh persons have been registered on the portal of FSI to inform the fire alert. This number is the highest in the country.
Preparation for establishment of Ujjain and Jabalpur Zoo and Rescue Center
Additional Chief Secretary Forest said that it is proposed to conduct fencing in 160 km protected areas by the Forest Department. He informed that DPR has been prepared for the establishment of Zoo and Rescue Center in Ujjain and has been sent to (CZA), New Delhi. Similarly, DPR is being prepared for the establishment of Zoo and Rescue Center in Jabalpur.
Plan to set up a breeding center of racket and crocodile with turtle in Mahashir fish and turtle in Chambal in Narmada
Additional Chief Secretary Forest said that for the protection and promotion of aquatic organisms, there is a plan to establish Mahasheer fish in the Narmada river and the breeding center of turtles and gongs in the Chambal River. Similarly, Conservation Reserve is also being established in Omkareshwar Sanctuary and Tapti Conservation Reserve and Sonewani (District Balaghat). He informed that preparations are also being made to restore Cheetah in Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve this year.
