Amritsar Rural Police in Punjab arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 30 kg of heroin worth Rs 150 crore with a car from him while busting a gang smuggling from across the border.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Friday that this is the largest heroin seizure of 2025. He said that intelligence was found that drones were used to bring drugs from Pakistan. The arrested accused were involved in smuggling heroin on a large scale, and were reported that he had recently received a large consignment of smuggled heroin through cross -border drones.
DGP Yadav said that an FIR has been registered in the police station Gharinda under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is on to identify other individuals and to find out the origin of the smuggling network. He said that the Punjab Police is committed to its resolve to end drug smuggling and ensure a safe Punjab.
