Former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has been sentenced to life imprisonment. He has been sentenced in the case of rape of a 47 -year -old domestic assistant. The special thing is that a sari has played a very big role in the police investigation. It is reported that this sari belonged to the victim, who was later recovered from the incident. Prajwal was sentenced to remain in imprisonment till the rest of his life on Saturday and a fine of Rs 11.50 lakh was imposed. The court directed that Rs 11.25 lakh should be given to the victim. Revanna was convicted by a court in one of the four cases of sexual abuse and rape.
How Sari brought Revanna to jail
According to media reports, investigators say that Prajwal forcibly pulled the victim’s sari after the rape. Allegedly hidden it in the Etik or Attari of the Farmhouse. This decision of the Janata Dal Secular leader played an important role to bring him to jail. During the investigation, when the officials asked the victim what she was wearing at the time of the incident, she told that she was wearing a sari. He told that Prajwal did not return the sari to him, which could be in the farmhouse till now. Based on this input, the police raided the farmhouse and recovered the sari. According to the report, the saree was later sent for forensic examination, which was confirmed the semen. The DNA tested involved its wires. Investigators say that with the victim’s statement, the sari proved to be very important for the case.
What is the case
The case is related to the woman who worked as a assistant at the Gannikaada Farmhouse of the Revanna family located in Holenarsipura in Hassan district. He was raped twice in the year 2021 and the act was recorded in his mobile phone. Prajwal has reportedly informed the employees that he has approached the High Court to challenge his sentence.
Crying after hearing the sentence
Special court judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat, a special court of MPs/MLAs, on Friday ruled after convicting Revanna. According to the PTI language report, he was crying and looked quite distressed in jail after being sentenced. In this regard, a senior official said, “He cried during medical examination and expressed his pain in front of the employees.”
