Delhi Metro set a record on Raksha Bandhan. On August 8, 2025, a day before Rakshabandhan, Delhi Metro registered the biggest daily ridership ever. On this day, more than 81 lakh passengers traveled in Delhi Metro. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted that on August 8, a total of 81.87 lakh passenger journey, including all the corridors, took place, which is a new record. DMRC described it as an indication of the growing trust of the passengers.
In view of Rakshabandhan, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ran 92 additional trips on the same day. The next day, ie on Rakshabandhan, operated an additional trip 455.
According to DMRC, the earlier record was made on 18 November 2024, when 78.67 lakh passenger journey was recorded. The days of other high riderships include 20 August 2024, when 77.48 lakh journals were done. On 13 February 2024, 71.09 lakh journals were recorded.

This new record of Delhi Metro proves the growing importance of the metro in the capital and surrounding areas once again and its popularity as public transport.
