Railways agreed, there will be a change in the design of 90 degree bridge in Bhopal

Bhopal

The Aishbagh railway over bridge (ROB), built in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, was already engulfed in controversies before its inauguration, but now the effect of ‘Aaj Tak’ is visible. After the questions raised about the 90 degree dangerous turn of this bridge, the Railways has agreed to give additional land for change in design.

The issue of design of this bridge was raised prominently, after which PWD sources said that on providing land from the railway, the railing of the bridge will be broken and 90 degrees turns will be made more curved.

This will increase the width of the bridge by three feet, which will provide additional space to bend the vehicles. The team of engineers along with machines also arrived on Wednesday to measure the center point of the bridge.

This 648 meter long bridge, built at a cost of Rs 18 crore, has been built in the Aishbagh region with densely populated and random traffic. There was a possibility of accidents due to a scathing turn of 90 degrees in its design.

Three investigation teams gave important suggestions

The government formed three separate teams for the security check of this flyover, whose report has given several important suggestions:

NHAI Officer RO S.K. Singh suggested that the bridge should not be allowed more than 30 km/h, the bridge wall should be high, accurate signal and adequate lighting arrangements, and the pavement should be broken and included in the bridge.
The MPRDC engineer suggested that the entry of large vehicles should be restricted, until widening, traffic on the bridge is limited, road design should be changed to prevent high speed, and where there is a meeting point of roads, the wall is thick and high.
Apart from this, it is also being considered that only two -wheelers should be allowed to pass through this bridge.

Technical challenges in construction

There were many technical challenges in the construction of this bridge. The metro line on one side, the railway line on the other and the stadium on the third side is located. This bridge is the main source of movement of population of about 5 lakhs. In the year 2022, the Railways closed the gate without consulting the state government, which disrupted the traffic badly. In this emergency, it was necessary to decide to build a bridge.

The officer said…

The investigation report submitted to the government said that the decision of the 90 -degree twist flyover was collective, so no one can be considered the fault of any one engineer. Railways also duly allowed construction.

Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Lonivi

On the social media platform ‘X’, user Manish Chaudhary wrote, “This is the Aishbagh Rail Over Bridge of Bhopal, which has been prepared by PWD in the entire 10 years, as if there is a ‘engineering miracle’. Such structures are not needed to fill the public pockets. This bridge will not only be a new center of traffic jam, but this twist of 90 degrees will be made a new center.”

“Death will come as an angle of 90 degrees. This angle of development has come out in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal. 18 crore has been spent.”

When journalists questioned PWD minister Rakesh Singh on this issue, he said, “After the bridge was constructed, some experts suddenly come and talk like this, while many technical aspects are seen while building a bridge. If it is an allegation, it will be investigated.”

Now this move of Railways and PWD is expected to improve the safety of the bridge and improvement of traffic.
