New Delhi
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reacted sharply to the recent statement of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. The Commission said that when Rahul Gandhi is called to object, he does not come and now he is engaged in threatening the employees of the Commission.
Describing Rahul’s statements as ‘baseless’ and ‘irresponsible’, the Commission said that he ignores such allegations. At the same time, the Commission has directed all its election personnel not to pay attention to such comments and continue working in a fair and transparent manner.
The Election Commission said that email was sent to Rahul Gandhi on 12 June 2025, but he did not appear. A letter was also sent to him on 12 June 2025, but no response was received. Rahul Gandhi has not sent any letter to the Commission on any issue so far. It is very unfortunate that now he is making baseless allegations and is even threatening the commission and its employees. The Election Commission ignores such irresponsible statements and appeals to all its employees to continue to work with fairness and transparency.
The Commission appealed to its personnel to discharge their responsibilities without any pressure and maintain the dignity of the democratic process.
What did Rahul Gandhi say
In fact, Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission on Friday and said that we have strong evidence of this. Rahul Gandhi said that the Election Commission is involved in this vote theft and I am not saying this lightly. I am speaking this strong evidence. As soon as we released this, the whole country will know that the Election Commission is stealing votes and for whom? The Commission is doing this for the BJP. No one can raise questions on this.
We doubted MP and Maharashtra elections: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi said that his party had suspected of vote theft in Madhya Pradesh and Lok Sabha elections. This doubt increased in Maharashtra, where he felt that there was a large -scale rigged at the state level.
He claimed that one crore new voters were added to Maharashtra, but when the Congress demanded the voter list and videography, the Commission did not cooperate. Rahul said, ‘The Election Commission did not show the voter list. When we asked for videography, he changed his law.
Let me tell you that this is not the first time that there has been a tension between Rahul Gandhi and the Election Commission. Even during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul accused the Commission of bias, especially about the credibility of the electronic voting machine (EVM) and disturbances in the voter list. Even then, the Commission had rejected Rahul’s statements as ‘baseless’.
Apart from this, the Congress has several times questioned the appointment of some officers of the Commission and their tenure, which the Commission has described as politically motivated.
