Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given a befitting reply to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on ‘Bangla’ language dispute. Mamta Banerjee on Saturday raised questions on the BJP government of Assam through a post on social media. On this, Himanta Biswa Sarma has retaliated and said that Mamata Banerjee has tied up with the future of Bengal just to stay in power. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in a post on social media platform ‘X’, “Didi, I am reminiscent of you, we are not fighting our people in Assam. We are fearlessly opposing that constant and unbridled Muslim infiltration, which is taking place from across the border and which has led to a horrific change in the state’s demography.”
The Chief Minister claimed that in many districts of Assam, Hindus are now on the verge of becoming a minority on their own land. It is not a political neber, it is a truth. Even the Supreme Court of India has called such infiltration as an external invasion. Himanta alleged that when we stand to protect our land, culture and identity, you start giving it the color of politics.
He said, “We do not divide people on the basis of language or religion. Assamese, Bangla, Bodo and Hindi have all lived here for centuries. But no civilization can survive until it protects its borders and cultural foundations.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta said, “While we are taking decisive steps to preserve the identity of Assam, Didi has compromised with the future of Bengal.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Mamata Banerjee of promoting illegal encroachment on behalf of a particular community and appeasing a religious community for the vote bank. Despite infiltration on the Chief Minister of West Bengal, he also accused of keeping silence on damaging national integrity.
Earlier, Mamta Banerjee alleged that those who speak ‘Bangla’ in Assam were being threatened with harassment. He said in a post, “It is discriminatory and unconstitutional to threaten harassment to the citizens who are peacefully co-exist while honoring all languages and religions. It is discriminatory and unconstitutional. This divisive agenda of BJP in Assam has crossed all limits and people of Assam will fight it firmly.”
