A total of 10 such buildings are to be constructed for central ministries and departments under the Central Vista Project. After the completion of the project, there will be a savings of Rs 1500 crore to be spent as rent.
What is special in duty building
Spread over an area of about 1.5 lakh square meters, this state -of -the -art office complex has two basements and seven floors (surface +6 floors). Currently, many major ministries work from old buildings such as Shastri Bhavan, Krishi Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan and Nirman Bhawan built between the 1950s and 1970s, built in the 1950–70s.
The building has facilities such as safe and IT-competent workplace, smart entry system, electronic monitoring and command centers, solar panels, solar water heaters and e-vehicle charging stations. It also promotes environmentally friendly construction, including re -use of waste water, solid waste management systems. Special glass windows have been installed in it to keep the building cool and reduce external noise pollution.
30 percent less energy consumption
The duty building has been designed for 30 percent less energy consumption. An advanced system has been installed to manage energy saving LED lights, sensors shutting off lights, power -saving smart lifts and electricity use when not needed.
Soon other buildings will also be fully ready
Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday told in a discussion with reporters in the auditorium of the newly constructed Duty Bhawan-3 that by next month, Duty Bhawan-1 and Duty Bhawan-2 will also be ready. The work of both is almost in the final stages. The other seven buildings proposed will also be ready by April 2027. About 1000 crores will be spent on this project. These buildings being built for ministries have taken full care of technology, security and environmental adaptability. A command CCTV Center has also been set up to monitor the entire building, from where the premises and the inner corridors will be closely monitored. The special thing is that these new buildings for the central ministries and departments were first named Common Central Secretariat (CCS). To connect these duty buildings to the metro line, it has been proposed to construct a new line from Indraprastha metro station.
The current buildings are 75 years old
Minister Khattar said in response to a question that there was a need to build new and state -of -the -art buildings of the ministries because the existing buildings were built between 1950 and 1970. All these have become old, their annual maintenance had become quite expensive. Significantly, at present, the central government has about 55 ministries and 93 departments. These are currently included with North and South blocks, Krishi Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, Industry and Construction Building etc.
North and South Block will be completely empty
As soon as the duty buildings are ready, all the ministries present in North and South blocks will be transferred from there. Both the blocks will be evacuated and the Bharat Museum will be built in them. During this time, without tampering with the structure, it will showcase the history, art and culture etc. of the country till today. Union Minister Manohar Lal said that this work of the Central Vista project will be completed by December 2031. In these, new houses and offices are also being built for the Prime Minister. The process has also been started for this.
