Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that after the formation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Center, fish production in the country increased by 126 percent. Rajiv Ranjan said in response to a supplementary question during the Question Hour that fish production in the country has increased by 126 percent after the formation of Modi government. India ranks second in the world’s production. He said that in the year 2013-14, 95.7 lakh tonnes of fish was produced, which has been produced 184.02 lakh tonnes in 2023-24.

International fish production has also increased. International fish production was 61.36 lakh tonnes in 2013-14, which has increased to 139.07 lakh tonnes in 2023-24. He said in response to another supplementary question that for three months there is a time of breeding of fish. During this period, due to lack of production, there is a provision to give Rs 4500 per month to the people associated with this business. There is some difficulty in its distribution, because it has a share of 1500 rupees and gives 1500 beneficiaries themselves. Due to their not coming on time, there have been some problems in their distribution, which will be removed.

He said that there has been a big increase in fish production in Bihar after 2005. He said that earlier ten percent of the total production of total production used to come in the market, but now 90 percent of the production of fish comes in the market. Rajiv Ranjan said that the government has a guideline for the Prime Minister Fisheries Sampada Yojana. Under this scheme, the proposal that comes from the state government and if it is according to the guidelines, then action goes on it. The Modi government is not a government leaving any state. This is a government carrying everyone along. All states will develop, only then developed India will be formed.
