New Delhi
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved Phase-1B of Lucknow Metro Rail Project in Uttar Pradesh. About 12 stations will be constructed and the cost will be Rs 5,801 crore. According to the statement issued by the government, the corridor of the project will be 11.165 km long and will have a total of 12 stations, including 7 underground and 5 elevated stations. On the commissioning of Phase-1 B, a 34-km metro rail network will be composed in Lucknow city.
The statement further stated that this will lead to significant improvement in public transport in the city’s oldest and most densely populated areas, where currently there is a lack of good connectivity. Professional centers like Aminabad, Jearganj, Pandeyganj and Chowk, medical colleges like King George Medical University and main centers of tourism such as Bada Imambara, Chhota Imambara, Law-Bhulaiya, Ghantaghar and Rumi Darwaza etc. will be added to this project.
The government further said that by connecting these important areas to the metro network, Phase-1 will not only increase connectivity, but will also promote economic activities, tourism and will make urban traffic easier for both residents and visitors.
According to the government, the addition of Charan-1 B in the Lucknow Metro Rail Project and the increase in the overall metro rail network in the city will significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional fossil fuel-based transport.
Along with this, better access to various parts of the city and better access to various parts of the city such as airports, railway stations and bus depots will help people reach their workplaces and destinations more efficiently, which can increase productivity. At the same time, better connectivity in areas around new metro stations can promote local businesses, which can also attract investment and development in low -access areas.
