A landslide occurred on Monday on the old route leading to Vaishno Devi temple in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Four pilgrims were injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
Officials said this landslide was due to heavy rains in Katra city, the base camp of pilgrims located on the Trikuta hills. The incident took place at around 8.50 am in Gulshan’s langar near Banganga.
This is the starting point of the journey. Most pony riders here gather on the old route. Officials said that the rescue operation was immediately started and four stranded pilgrims were evacuated and taken to the hospital.
The rescue operation was on till the final report was received.
There is a landslide in the Banganga area of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Marg. According to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the work of removing debris is going on. Necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers.
