Two Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders are face to face these days. Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee is an attacker on the party’s other MP Mahua Moitra. Banerjee has called Moitra a waste of time. Apart from this, even the lower level has increased the dispute between the two. Recently, Kalyan Banerjee has resigned from the post of Chief Whip of TMC in the Lok Sabha. Four -time MP Kalyan Banerjee told reporters, “He (Mahua Moitra) is not a subject for me. She is very poor level. There is no point in talking about them. Because of them I have become bad for many people. It was a waste of time, I wasted my strength.
He further said that one of my junior lawyers brother messaged me. I realized that Mahua Moitra is not a subject for me. I still have a lot of work. Kalyan and Mahua Moitra had a long tussle behind the curtain, but the recent tension started by Srirampur MP Kalyan Banerjee putting a provocative post on social media. He posted an eight -minute -old video of 2023, in which he is seen defending Mahua in the Lok Sabha during the proceedings of the Ethics Committee in the “Cash for Question”. Even more surprising was that Kalyan not only tagged Mahua and his party, but also the official BJP handle and Congress. Party leaders have considered it like ‘crossing the limits’.
Earlier, the Trinamool Congress, taking politically important steps, accepted senior MP Kalyan Banerjee’s resignation from the post of Chief Whip of Lok Sabha on Tuesday and announced the name of his successor. This indicates party supremo Mamata Banerjee’s vocal MPs to curb and warn the dissidents.
Given a clear indication that disagreement and disobedience would not be tolerated, the Trinamool Congress chief not only accepted the resignation of Kalyan Banerjee, but also started a significant reshuffle, in which Kakoli Ghosh Dasidar was appointed as the new Chief Whip and Shatabdi Roy as Deputyner in the Lok Sabha.
The leadership change, barely 24 hours after Kalyan resigned, does not have any doubt that Mamata Banerjee is taking tough steps to restore discipline within the party. A senior Trinamool Congress leader told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “This is a message for all those who consider themselves bigger than the party. There was a need to give a tough message. ”The Trinamool Congress on Monday appointed party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee as its new leader in the Lok Sabha as part of its parliamentary leadership. He will replace senior MP Sudeep Bandopadhyay, who has been unwell for several months.
