New Delhi
South Korea’s KF-21 Boramae is emerging as a powerful jet with a metur missile. India is moving in the right direction by showing interest for this, especially when threats like China and Pakistan are increasing. This jet will not only give strength in the air, but will also increase India’s self -sufficiency. However, it will take time and interaction to finalize the deal, but it can be a big step to protect the future.
What is KF-21 Boramae?
KF-21 Boramae is a new Multirol fighter jet from South Korea, which is created by Korea Aerospace Industries. It was first introduced to the world in 2021. Its trials are going on now. It is planned to include it in the Air Force of South Korea in 2026. This jet is light and stealth features, that is, it can avoid enemy radar. Its purpose is to change old jets and increase strength in the air.
The features of KF-21
This jet is equipped with many wonderful qualities…
Speed and distance: Can fly up to 1000 km at a speed of 2200 km/h.
size: 55.5 feet long, 15.5 feet high and takeoff weight 25,600 kg.
pilot: It can run 1 or 2 pilots- 1 for a fight, 2 for training.
Cannon: A 20 mm vulcan cannon, which can fire 480 bullets in a minute.
Weapon: There are 10 places (hard points), where 5 air-to-air (Metior, Sidewinder) and 5 air-to-ground missiles, anti-ship missiles or bombs can be installed.
Why is India interested?
India’s Air Force is in dire need of new jets, because the old MIG-21 and Jaguar are now old. Under the MRFA deal, India wants to take more than 100 new jets. American F-35 and Russian SU-57 jets are expensive. Dependence on these is increasing. At the same time, KF-21 is cheaper (about 87–110 million dollars per jet) and modern.
Make in India: India wants to make it here, in which it can add its technology (such as radar).
Chinese threat: In view of the India-China border dispute, it will be helpful in jet strategy.
Low cost: It is cheaper than Rafael or F-35, which is good for India’s budget.
What problems can happen?
Trial: KF-21 is currently in testing. Will not be ready until 2026.
Technology: South Korea will have to share technology with India.
Enemy’s resentment: China and North Korea can consider this deal as a threat to their safety.
