The India-UK Cast Economic and Trade Agreement made by the Central Government will have a very positive impact on the agriculture sector. Regarding this, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has congratulated the farmers and sisters on behalf of farmers across the country. Shivraj Singh said that this agreement is amazing, unprecedented, historical and in the widespread interest of the nation and farmers.

In a statement to the media in Delhi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the comprehensive economic trade agreement with the UK under the leadership of the Prime Minister is a boon for Indian agriculture and farmers. Bharat Trade is a surplus country, meaning we export to UK 8 thousand 500 crore agricultural products and from there we import. Agricultural products worth Rs 3 thousand 200 crore. Meaning, our exports are high and imports are low and it will benefit from high exports. This will definitely give India to India.

Shivraj Singh said that the interests of farmers have been fully protected. Farmer interest is paramount for us. The service of farmers is like worship of God. Therefore, no concession agreement has been given on such things, which could have adverse effects on our farmers. Wheat, rice, maize, grains which are widespread production, India has not given any convention. If we look at the fruits, we have not given any conception on apples, pomegranate, grapes, pear, potato, mango, guava of fruits, guava. If we look at oil seeds, we have not given any concession in soybean, peanuts, mustard. At the same time, if we look at the nuts, we have not given any concession on cashew, almonds, walnuts. Potatoes, onions, tomatoes, garlic, peas which are on a wide scale in the vegetables, we have not given any convention to the UK. Similarly, we have not given any exemption to the UK on black gram, gram, urad, moong, lentils, rajma, tur. We have not given any concession on roses, lilies, orchids in flowers. We have not given any exemption even on spices like turmeric, large cardamom in spices.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh said that this means that if these things will not come cheaper than the UK in India, then the economic interests of farmers have been protected. On the other hand, the things on which the UK has done 0% import duty, the UK gets our agricultural produce, whether it is crops, fruits and vegetables, they used to pay import duty, but on a wide scale, because the import duty on all major agricultural products has been reduced to 0%.

Meaning, the people of the UK can now buy agricultural products from India cheaper, because import duty will not be done. If import duty would have been expensive, it would have been expensive, and if there was expensive there, the chances of purchasing would have been reduced. And in that category, all fruits, dried fruits, all vegetables, all oilseed means mustard, soybean, peanuts, all pulses, all the pulses, all the flowers, all medicines, all medicines, all medicines, have been zero on them.
