India is not easy to threaten: Shashi Tharoor thundered on Trump’s statement, warned to answer in tariff

New Delhi
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has described the decision of US President Donald Trump to impose an additional 25% tariff on India as unfair, double norm and insensitive to Indo-US relations. He clearly said that if the US will impose a 50% fee on India’s products, then India should also impose the same tariff on American goods. He said, “We have a trade of $ 90 billion with the US. If everything becomes 50% expensive, the buyers there will wonder why to buy Indian items?”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Shashi Tharoor said, “America cannot do anything by threatening us. Right now we pay an average fee on American products. Let us tell you that President Donald Trump signed an executive order on 6 August, under which an additional 25% tariff has been imposed on imported goods from India. This step has been taken due to India buying oil from Russia. The 25% fee had already been announced. Now the total tariff has reached 50%.

Exemption to China, why punishment for India?
Describing the US policy as “double standards”, Shashi Tharoor said that China buys more oil and materials from India from Russia, but has been given a discount of 90 days. He said, “If China can be relieved, why is India being targeted? It is not friendship, politics of pressure.”
