India got strength ahead of time: Spain handed over all the Airbus C-295 aircraft

India got the final aircraft of 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain on Saturday. This will prove to be important in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. The C-295 is a transport aircraft with five to ten tons capacity. It is equipped with modern technology. It will replace the old Ewaro aircraft of the Air Force.

It was delivered two months ahead of time. Patnaik of Indian Ambassador to Spain, Dinesh, along with senior Air Force officials received the last aircraft from 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft on the Airbus Defense and Space Assembly Line in Seval.

Aircraft is with 11 hours of flight capacity
This aircraft with a 11 -hour flight capacity is a versatile strategic transport aircraft. India signed a contract with Airbus Defense and Space Spain for the purchase of 56 C-295 MW transport aircraft for the Air Force in September 2021. A total of 56 aircraft are to be delivered, out of which 16 aircraft were to be delivered directly from Spain by Airbus and the remaining 40 will be constructed in India.

Spain on Saturday fulfilled the commitment by handing over the last aircraft from 16 aircraft. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spain counterpart Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex for the construction of C-295 aircraft in the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus in Vadodara, Gujarat in October last year. TASL is responsible for making these 40 aircraft in India. It has become the first private sector final assembly line (FAL) for military aircraft in India.

This will involve the development of the entire ecosystem, including construction to assembly, testing, delivery and maintenance of the entire life cycle of the aircraft. Apart from Tata, leading defense public sector units like Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited, as well as private micro, small and medium enterprises will contribute to the event.
