A big relief news has come out for railway passengers. Now passengers traveling in general coaches will also be able to get nutritious and delicious food in the train itself. Earlier this facility was limited to AC coaches only, but now this service is also being provided to the passengers of General Coach under the agreement between IRCTC and Touch Stone Foundation, an associate of Indian Railways. This facility has been first launched from Rae Bareli, and soon it will be expanded to other stations and trains. In this new system, passengers will get a vegetarian plate for Rs 80, in which the entire nutrition has been taken care of.
What will be found in this plate?
Passengers will be served 2 parathas or 4 rotis (100 grams), 150 grams of rice, 150 grams of lentils or sambar, 100 grams of seasonal vegetables and 80 grams of curd. This food will not only be delicious, but will also be completely balanced and full of freshness. Railways have also ensured that food is served in environmentally friendly plates, so that the use of plastic can be reduced. This initiative will not only increase the quality of food, but will also help in environmental protection.
According to railway officials, the price of standard veg miles found at the station is Rs 70, but if passengers sit in the train and get food, then they will have to spend only 80 rupees. This service will prove to be a boon especially for millions of passengers traveling in general coaches, who used to seek food at stations till now or depended on less quality food in the journey. Now they will get balanced, clean and hot food during the journey, which will make their journey more comfortable and safe.
