In India, almost every fifth person aged 45 years and above in 2019 was suffering from diabetes and two out of every five persons were probably not known about their health condition. This information was given in the data of a study on India’s adults. The findings published in ‘The Lancet Global Health’ also shows that as the country’s population increases rapidly, the middle-aged and diabetes cases will increase in the old people. These researchers were also among the researchers from the International Institute of International Population Sciences of Mumbai and the United States.
He found that 46 percent of the people aware of diabetes got control over blood sugar level and about 60 percent of the people were able to control their blood pressure in the same year. The team of researchers reported that six percent of the people took the ‘lipid’ controlling drug to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
About 60,000 adults aged 45 years and above were surveyed during this study titled ‘Langutiudinal Aging Study in India’. The study found that metabolic problems (about 20 percent) were similar in men and women and in urban areas it was doubled compared to rural areas. Researchers said that in addition, the states which were economically developed, there were more diabetes cases.
He said, “Our study provides update data at national and state levels to control diabetes, treat, detect its prevalence, to spread awareness about controlling diabetes by using ‘glactid hemoglobin’ concentrations in India and in older adults in India.”
The team found, “One in almost every five ages aged 45 years and above had diabetes.” The results suggest that “the total number of middle-aged middle-aged and older adults suffering from diabetes will increase in the coming years, even if the increase in the spread of age-specific diabetes can be prevented.”
