Effect of tariff on Indian goods in US: Look at prices from pulses to sambar

New Delhi

The US has imposed 25 percent tariff on India from 7 August and has asked to implement 25% extra tariff from August 27. Due to the implementation of this tariff on India, there is a possibility of a decline in the export, while the prices of goods going from India to America can also be seen.

A large quantity of cloth, medicine, engineering goods and agricultural products are sent from India to America. Experts are telling that due to Trump Tariff, the profit margin from these goods can decrease, which can also affect Indian products buying customers in America.

In America too, questions are being raised about Trump’s tariff and protests have also taken place in many places. According to Business Today, recently an NRI questioned the possible results of 25 to 50 per cent tariffs on Indian imports on social platform Redit and asked if it has affected local grocery shops in America and has the price of Indian goods increased?

NRI wrote, ‘I was read somewhere that Patel Brothers and big companies are asking for things like pulses, grains and spices from other South Asian countries to reduce the impact of tariffs. Are you seeing any special effect of tariffs in your city grocery stores?

After this post, many users living in America came to reply, who informed that what has been the effect of Indian goods in the grocery stores of America?

One user wrote that I will have to pay a higher price. I will not buy Sambhar from Bangladesh or pulses from any other country. There is a lot of difference in the quality of products coming from India and other countries. Especially as a vegetarian, I will never trust non-Indian food whether they are sattvic or right for my family. But this is just my opinion.

The second user said that new tariffs will be applicable for ships leaving from the port of India from August 7. Therefore, prices will not increase on existing goods. One third said that the profit margin of most Indian grocery shops is quite high, so I think they will face this loss in the beginning. If there is no business agreement for months, then it will be a problem.
