Delhi will get 100 new electric buses, DTC board approves inter -state service

DTC has started preparations for the introduction of interstate bus service. Under this, the purchase process of buses will be started soon. There are plans to purchase 200 buses for major cities around Delhi, but 100 buses will be procured in the first phase.

100 CNG buses will also be purchased
The DTC Board has given in -principle approval for the purchase of buses, and now they will be approved by discussing the model of buses in a meeting soon. This proposal was presented in the recently held board meeting. DTC is planning to include 100 CNG and 100 electric buses under the interstate bus service. According to this, CNG buses on long distance routes and electric buses on short distance routes will be operated.

In the DTC board meeting, the proposal to start the purchase process of buses and procure 100 electric buses in the first phase has been agreed. In the last meeting, a proposal to purchase the standard floor AC E-Bose (Type-3) was presented. During this time there was a discussion that models of new electric buses are available in the market, so the model of buses will be considered in the upcoming board meeting. The process will be started after getting approval from the board for the purchase of modern model buses.

Route survey in final stage
DTC officials have informed that the survey of routes for inter -state bus service is in the final stages. Soon a list of routes will be prepared, which will be presented in the upcoming board meeting. This list will be made public only after the approval of the board. Officials say that efforts are being made to operate DTC buses to the cities of neighboring states.

Fund is also available
DTC will not have to face the shortage of funds for the purchase of buses, as it has about Rs 320 crore available for this work. The Finance Department of the Delhi Government had given prior consent for the use of an equity capital fund of Rs 199.5 crore through the Transport Department, which has now increased to Rs 320.3 crore with interest.
