In the last 24 hours, the water level of the Ganges river has been reduced by 155 cm in Phaphamau and 146 centimeters in Chhatnag, while the water level of Yamuna river in Naini has been reduced by 123 cm in the last 24 hours. The water level of the Yamuna river is decreasing at 5.12 cm per hour and the water level of the Ganges river is decreasing by 6.45 cm per hour, although dozens of locality and village are still in flood. Boats are still going on in these areas, a large number of people have taken shelter in flood relief camps, but the speed with which the water level is decreasing.
According to the report of the Central Water Commission in Varanasi, the water level of the Ganges river has started decreasing at a speed of 4 centimeters per hour. The water level of the Ganges was recorded at 71.58 meters today. With the decrease in flood water, the risk of infectious diseases has increased. Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari said that he has held a meeting with the officials and discussed measures to prevent infectious diseases when the floods are reduced. In areas where flood waters are decreasing, municipal teams are cleaning, spraying and fogging. Areas such as Nakkhi Ghat, Pulkohna, Sugar Pond and in urban areas are the most affected on the banks of the Varuna River. Instructions have been given to pay special attention in these areas.
