The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has sent a notice to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha on allegations of vote theft to the Leader of the Opposition. Rahul made serious allegations at a press conference held in New Delhi on 7 August. He claimed, ‘Election Commission data is showing that Shakun Rani voted twice. This is EC data. This ID card has been voted 2 times. The tick on this is of the officer of the polling booth.
Initially investigations were conducted by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. It was found that Tick Mark EC is not official documents shown in the presentation by Rahul Gandhi. Apart from this, Shakun Rani has also made a statement that he voted only once. Not twice, as alleged.
In view of this, the Chief Electoral Officer has demanded Rahul Gandhi to provide those documents available, on the basis of which he concluded that Shakun Rani or any other person voted twice. This document is said to be necessary for detailed investigation in this case. The notice said that further action will be taken on the basis of these documents.
