CM Dhami conducted surprise inspection of relief and rescue operations in Uttarkashi, rescue operation continues on war footing

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday reviewed the ongoing rescue operation in Uttarkashi. He gave this information on his social media X handle. The Chief Minister said that in Uttarkashi today (Friday), reviewed the relief and rescue operations going on in Dharli in the morning. With the help of Haley Seva, MI 17 and Chinook helicopters, people are being brought back safely by running a rescue campaign on a war footing since morning. He informed that under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, full support is being received from the central government. During this time, along with the restoration of road, communication and electricity from the officials, they gave necessary guidelines on food supply. We are trying to rescue all the affected and restore normal life as soon as possible.

Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the relief and rescue work. He reached the disaster control room of Uttarkashi and took stock of the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the disaster affected areas. The Chief Minister visited the Pauri Garhwal district, where cloudbursts in Pabau and Thalisain blocks killed many people and caused widespread damage to homes, roads and bridges.

During this time, the officers were instructed to take additional sensitivity towards women, children and the elderly. He had told that if special cooperation is needed from the state government at any level, then inform them immediately. The solution to the problems of the affected area is our top priority, for this we are fully ready to take every important step.

In Dharli, about 50 civilians, eight jawans and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) are still missing since the sudden floods and landslides caused by cloudburst on August 5. After cloudburst, this area remains inaccessible to a large extent, and major road connectivity in Baratwari, Lynchigad, Gangrani, Harshil and Dharali has been badly damaged. Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel are providing food, medical assistance and shelter to trapped tourists. Efforts are on to restore, but there are challenges related to weather and territory. According to the army, tourists are being extracted from the Nelong helipad in return flights. The military helipad at Harshil is completely operational.
