Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday empowered Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda to elect the Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling coalition. The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said that this is a unanimous decision taken.
NDA leaders meeting
There was a meeting of prominent BJP leaders and their allies in the Parliament complex, in which the decision was taken. Apart from Nadda, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, Lalan Singh of JDU, Srikanth Shinde of Shiv Sena, Lavu Shri Krishna Deviryalu of TDP and Chirag Paswan of LJP (Ram Vilas) were also present. Rajnath Singh presided over the meeting.
Voting will be held on 9 September
After the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, elections are being held for the post of Vice President. The Election Commission of India has issued a notification of the election program for this post. Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on 9 September and counting will also be held on this day. Voting will be held on September 9 from 10 am to 5 pm. Also, the process of enrollment has started from today and the last date has been fixed on 21 August 2025. The Election Commission has issued a notification today under Deputy Fund (4) and (1) of Section 4 of the President and Vice President Election Act-1952.
