Bhopal
When the level of infection in the body becomes very high, the immune system of the patient becomes very weak. When all the organs of the body are affected. So the patient can also die. This condition of the disease is called sepsis. However, during this rare disease sepsis, there is a need to detect the infection located in the patient’s body as soon as possible. So that the patient’s life can be saved, but till now there was no such technical, so that the infection can be detected in 15 to 20 minutes. Due to which most of the patients suffering from this disease die.
It used to take 3 days for the first test report to come
Let us know that during the autopsy, it used to take 3 to 4 days to get the first culture report, but now the doctor will be able to detect infection in the patient’s body in 15 to 20 minutes from the procalcitonin test. This research was presented at the 77th American Academy of Forensic Sciences Conference held recently in Baltimore, USA. The tool made through this research can be detected in the patient’s body in a very short time.
Dr. Arneet Arora, Head of the Department of Eyelife Medicine and Toxicology in AIIMS Bhopal, said that “Point of care tools can also bring revolutionary changes in the treatment of patients. This research has used proxitonin (PCT) biomarker to detect sepsis during autopsy.
This tool tells the infection in 15 to 30 minutes
Explain that this tool acts on a simple method, for this only one drop of blood and organ is sample from the body of the deceased during post -mortem. Results are found in 10 to 15 minutes through procalesitonin test. Its grading is done. Which ranges from 05 to 50. If the digits are above 10, it indicates that the level of infection in the body of the deceased was very high. This test can be done even while alive the patient, such as the Kalbar Test. In 15 to 30 minutes, it tells that the level of infection in the body has spread to the Kalber Test (whose report comes in the day).
Research conducted only in AIIMS Bhopal in India
Actually, the culture test report used to take 3 days, causing delay in treatment. The procalsitonin test from biochemistry machines took 3 hours, which was not suitable for autopsy. In India, this research has been done only in AIIMS Bhopal. In some countries like Germany and France abroad, institutions use it. Such technology is not widely available in the country.
Bacteria, virus infection begins sepsis
This tool will help patients get immediate treatment. The possibility of saving life from quick recognition of sepsis will increase. If this test is done on time of the hospitalized patients, then the necessary medicines can be saved by detecting the level of infection on time. Sepsis is a deadly condition, which begins with severe infection caused by bacteria, viruses or fungus in the body.
This happens when the body’s immune system starts damaging its own tissues and organs while fighting infection. It can usually start from the lungs, urinary tract or abdominal path. If there is no timely treatment, then this multi-organ failure can cause death.
Currently, investigation is done for 1000 to 1300 rupees
Director of AIIMS Bhopal Prof. Ajay Singh said that “So far, doctors could not know how serious the infection in the patient is. Procklesitonin test immediately makes the condition clear, which can start the exact treatment at the right time. It can bring innovation in a fast and effective diagnosis in the medical field. So far, tests have been done on 100 cases, 300 and the case will be comfortable. It will cost from 1000 rupees to 1300 rupees. ”
