Atal-Chivaning Scholarship will start in UP, will get a chance for Masters in UK

The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big gift to the meritorious students dreaming of studying abroad. Now the promising students of the state will be given scholarship for a master’s degree in the United Kingdom (UK). A total of 19 proposals, including the scheme, were approved in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday. Apart from this, two supplementary proposals were also discussed.

Scholarship scheme approved

The cabinet approved ‘Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Chivaning Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme’. Under this scheme, every year five meritorious students of the state will be given scholarship for one year masters degree in any recognized university of UK.

The scheme will be run in collaboration with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The beneficiaries will be selected under the MoU to be held between the UP government and the FCDO.

Details of expenditure

Total expenses per student: 38,048 pounds to 42,076 pounds (about ₹ 40 lakh)
State Government’s contribution: 19,800 pounds (about ₹ 23 lakh)
The remaining amount will be borne by FCDO
Expenditure included: Tuition fees, examination fee, research fee, monthly allowance, and movement of air fare (economy class)

This scholarship scheme will be applicable from academic session 2025-26 and will be effective for three years (2025-26, 2026-27, 2027-28). For continuing the plan for 2028-29, renewal will have to be done by 30 March 2028.

Now the Gharauni prepared in rural areas will be considered as a valid document of property. Based on this, a bank loan will also be taken, amendment of the Act of King George Medical University (KGMU) of Lucknow has been approved. In 62 districts of the state, the proposal of Ribor of poor state tube wells was passed. The limit of the FRBM Act was increased from 3 to 3.5. Two new private universities have been allowed to be established in the state.

These decisions of the UP government are being considered a big step towards education, rural development and infrastructure reforms. Especially through the Chivaning Scholarship Scheme, meritorious students of the state will get an opportunity to realize their dreams on the international stage.
