New Delhi
The Indian Army has shown a mirror to the US and reminded the 54 -year -old incident amidst the ongoing tension in the two countries after US President Donald Trump’s sharp lyrics and tariffs on India. In fact, the Indian Army has taunted the US by sharing a newspaper clip published in 1971 on Tuesday. This clip shows how the US has been supporting Pakistan for decades.
This post is important because US President Donald Trump has threatened to put more tariffs on Indian goods on India’s buying oil from Russia. A day earlier, Trump had said that he would huge increase in tariffs on goods coming from India as India is helping him by buying oil from Russia but America itself forgot how his past had been.
What did the Eastern Command of the Indian Army write?
In this context, showing the mirror to the Trump government, the Eastern Command of the Indian Army shared a clip of the newspaper published on August 5, 1971. The clip mentions the statement made by the then Defense Minister Vidyacharan Shukla in the Rajya Sabha. Shukla then gave a statement in Parliament about the supply of potential weapons to the Pakistani Army by NATO powers. It shows how the US had been supplying weapons to Pakistan for decades to prepare for the 1971 war. The army wrote the caption with the post, “Today is the year, the year of war preparation – August 5, 1971.”
The then Defense Minister gave a statement in Parliament
Shukla then told in her statement in the Rajya Sabha how NATO and Soviet Union were contacted to supply arms to Pakistan under the backdrop of Islamabad’s armed attack in Bangladesh. The report mentions that the Soviet Union and the French government refused to give weapons to Pakistan, but the US continued its support to Pakistan. It also states that both America and China had sold weapons to Pakistan at a quarter to one price. This indicates that Pakistan fought the war with India in 1971 with weapons provided by both countries. It also cited a report that Pakistan has been supplied about $ two billion weapons since 1954 from the US.
Trump is kind to Pakistan
Let us know that America is still kind and soft on Pakistan because the tariffs imposed on it indicate this. In the recent tariffs that the US has imposed, Pakistan has been given a big discount. The Trump administration has come down from 29 percent to 19 percent tariff on Pakistan. Let us know that Donald Trump warned on Monday that he is going to increase the US fee on India due to buying oil from Russia. Trump accused India of buying oil from Russia in large quantities and selling it for huge profits. The US President wrote on social media, “India is not only purchasing a huge amount of oil from Russia, but is also earning huge profits by selling a large part of that oil at high prices in the open market.”
Trump is furious over India
Along with this, Trump said, “He (India) does not care about how many people the Russian war machine is killing in Ukraine. That is why I am going to increase the fees paid to America from India.” Trump had announced a fine of 25 percent customs duty on Indian imports last week as well as a fine on purchasing oil and gas from Russia. The US President had announced a fine on India to buy military equipment and crude oil from Russia, but no mentioned in the later notification.
