YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, also known as ‘The Rebel Kid’, visited the Khar police station to provide her statement. This action comes in response to a complaint alleging the use of inappropriate and offensive language during the show’s episodes.
The controversy centers on remarks made by Makhija, along with fellow influencers Ranveer Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina, during their participation in ‘India’s Got Latent’. The content of their discussions was perceived by many as vulgar and offensive, leading to formal complaints filed with both the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission.
On a recent Wednesday afternoon, Makhija arrived at the Khar police station to record her statement regarding the allegations. A video shared by ANI captured her entering the station, underscoring the seriousness with which the authorities are treating the matter. The complaint specifically names Allahbadia, Makhija, Raina, and the show’s organizers, accusing them of using abusive and vulgar language during the program.
Public reaction to the incident has been swift and intense. Many individuals have expressed their disappointment and called for stringent action against those involved. One user commented, “Strict action should be taken against such people; they are considered icons, but their behavior is unacceptable.” Another remarked, “It’s important for public figures to uphold standards of respect and professionalism.”
Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as ‘Beer Biceps’, has also faced significant backlash for a particular question he posed to a contestant on the show. He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” Following the uproar, Allahbadia issued an apology for his remarks. Despite this, many on the internet remain critical and are not ready to forgive him easily.
The situation highlights the broader issue of content responsibility among influencers and public figures. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the actions and words of such individuals are under increasing scrutiny, emphasizing the need for mindfulness and respect in public discourse.
