Afghanistan: Security forces seized weapons and ammunition in Paktia province

The security forces of Afghanistan have seized a large amount of weapons and military equipment from the eastern Paktia province of the country. The Ministry of Internal Affairs gave this information on Sunday. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Sunday that large quantities of weapons and military equipment were recovered during several campaigns in the outskirts of East Paktia and Ahmed Sports districts.
Earlier, on August 4, police in Khak-e-Skeed district located in Farah province of western Afghanistan had recovered a rocket-profiled grenade (RPG), an AK-47 rifle, four grenades, projectiles and other military equipment from a house. The Provincial Police Office gave information about this action in a news release.
Similarly, on 27 July, a campaign was carried out on the basis of a secret information in Tirin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province of Southern Afghanistan. During this period, security forces recovered a large amount of ammunition including six AK-47 rifles, a heavy machine gun, PK machine gun, rocket launcher and hundreds of grenades.
According to the news agency Xinhua, two people have been arrested in the case.
The Afghan Interim Government has seized thousands of weapons and large amounts of ammunition as part of efforts to stabilize the country’s security situation in the last three and a half years.
According to the Government Media Outlet Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA), on July 24, the police seized about 200 light and heavy weapons in Paktiah province of East Afghanistan. This weapon’s stock includes 97 Kalashnikov, seven M16 Assault Rifles, 86 stock pistols, seven rocket launchers and many other types of weapons and ammunition.
The Government Media Outlet Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) quoted the police as saying that no one had the right to keep or carry arms illegally.
In a similar campaign, the police recovered arms and ammunition, including an anti-airfall gun in the northern Samangan province of Afghanistan.
