After the US and Canada, now Khalistani activities are being promoted openly in Britain. The ‘Charity Commission’, an organization monitoring the charitable cases in Britain, has clarified that the boards of ‘Khalistan’, installed at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Slaau in Berkshire, South-East England, do not violate the ongoing political guidelines for Parmarth institutions in the country. A few years ago, after expressing concern over the operation of the gurudwara, the Charity Commission launched a regulator compliance investigation. A spokesman of the Commission said that a case related to the ‘Khalistan’ board came up in this process, which holds religious and political importance for some people.

According to the official rules, political activities registered in Britain and Wales can only be done in the context of fulfilling their charitable objectives. Since there was no direct demand for any separate country in the banners displayed in the gurudwara, it was considered within the scope of religious objectives. The chairman of the Defense Affairs Committee on the Defense Assembly and the MP of the Labor Party were contacted to the response on the subject, but no response was received.

Meanwhile, a controversy has arisen over establishing the ‘Embassy of the Republic of Khalistan’ in a Suri of the British Columbia province of Canada. BBC Toronto (Radio and TV) head Joginder Bassi said in a statement that the building was previously used as a community center of senior citizens in the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara complex. He has written a letter to the Prime Minister of Canada and the Charitable Directorate demanding an investigation into the matter and a ban on such activities.
