New Delhi
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has given a big statement amidst the US tariffs on India. He said clearly that “No one has come till date that can bow to India. It is impossible. Anyone can try a million, no one can bend India.” This statement has come at a time when the US has announced a 25 percent additional tariff to continue the purchase of Russian oil on India.
Speaking at the summit, Goyal said that today’s India is more powerful and confident than ever. He said that India’s economy is growing at a rate of 6.5 percent annually and in the coming time it will be faster.
“Business restructuring, not diglobalization”
When asked questions about India’s future relations with global trade organizations, Goyal said that “dolobalization” is not happening in the world, but the countries are restoring their business partners and paths. He expressed confidence that this year India will export more than last year. He said, “We have already taken several steps to compete with trade obstacles.”
Trump’s sharp reaction to ‘dead economy’
US President Donald Trump called India a “dead economy”. Piyush Goyal reacted strongly to this and also targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. He said, “It is a shame to repeat this negative statement by the Leader of the Opposition. I condemn it. The country will never forgive Rahul Gandhi who is trying to degrade the great saga of India.”
Strong economic foundation claim
Goyal said that India’s currency, foreign exchange reserves, stock markets and economic infrastructure are completely strong. He also said that the rate of inflation in India is the lowest compared to other emerging economies. He said, “The world is seeing India today as the fastest growing big economy, which is contributing 16 percent to global development.” He said that 1.4 billion youth, skilled and aspiring population of India is a major force for global partners.
Kovid crisis turned into opportunity
Goyal credited India’s IT industry to give thousands of jobs and contribute to the rejuvenation of the country. He also reminded that India converted the Kovid crisis into an opportunity. He said, “India will always emerge victorious in difficult times.” The minister said that India is currently making trade agreements with many countries including UAE, Mauritius, Australia, EFTA (European group of four countries), UK, European Union, Chile, Peru, New Zealand and America, or is in the process of finalizing them. Finally he said, “India is stronger today, is more respected, and is under the leadership of a leader of high stature like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Earlier, Piyush Goyal shared a report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in a post and wrote on social media that the economy of the country is flourishing. The IMF recently released the July update of the World Economic scenario 2025. In this, it has increased India’s development estimate to 6.4 percent for the current and next financial year.
