The Union Cabinet has taken six major decisions in the meeting. The cabinet approved four multitracking projects covering 13 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand states. This will increase the current network of Indian Railways by about 574 km. Apart from this, the budget of National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has been increased by Rs 2,000 crore. Apart from this, Rs 6,520 crore was given for Pradhan Mantri Krishi Estate Scheme. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about these decisions in a briefing. Many major announcements were made in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and other ministers said that a total of six important decisions were approved, which will directly affect the farmers, cooperative institutions and railway networks. The cabinet announced financial assistance of Rs 2000 crore to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). This scheme will benefit 94 percent of the country’s farmers. Under this, this cooperation will continue from 2025-26 to 2028-29. The government aims to play a role in increasing the income of farmers by getting stronger more strong. Central government increased ₹ 6520 crore in the budget of ‘PM Estates Scheme’
The Modi government has approved a total of Rs 6520 crore outlay for PMKSY, which includes an additional amount of Rs 1920 crore. Under this scheme:
Food testing laboratories and radiation units will be set up from Rs 1000 crore.
100 NABL recognized food testing labs and 50 food irradation units will be set up.
920 crore has been sanctioned for other component plans.
The Union Minister said that the export of the food processing sector has doubled from $ 5 billion to $ 11 billion in 11 years.
The cabinet has approved laying the fourth railway line from Itarsi to Nagpur. This project will increase both capacity and speed of this important rail route.
Currently work is going on on the third line, and now the way of the fourth line is also cleared.
The government has approved four multitraging projects spread in 13 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand. Through these projects, the network of Indian Railways will be expanded for about 574 km, which will benefit both passengers and freight.
The fourth railway live between Itarsi-Nagpur was approved. The cost of this project will be Rs 5,451 crore. The third and fourth lines between Alubari Road-New Jalpaiguri have also been given cabinet approval. Rs 2,179 crore has been sanctioned for dubling of 177 km long railway line between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Parbhani. The Union Cabinet also approved the third and fourth line projects (Rs 1,752 crore) between Dongaposi to Jaroli.
Total 6 decisions have been made in the cabinet:
1. To empower National Cooperative Development Corporation – ₹ 2,000 Crore
2. To empower Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sampada Yojana – ₹ 6,520 Crore
3. Itarsi – Nagpur Fourth Railway Line – ₹ 5,451 Crore
4. Alubari Road – New Jalpaiguri third and fourth railway line – ₹ 1,786 crore
5. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – Parbhani railway line doubling – ₹ 2,179 crore
6. Dangosi – Jaroli third and fourth railway line – ₹ 1,752 crore
The current network of Indian Railways will increase by about 574 km
The cabinet has approved four multitracking projects covering 13 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand states. These projects will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 574 km.
The total estimated cost of these projects is Rs 11,169 crore (approx) and will be completed by 2028-29.
These projects will also create direct employment of about 229 lakh man days during construction.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today approved 4 (four) projects of the Ministry of Railways, which is about Rs 11,169 crore. These projects include
(1) Itarsi-Nagpur fourth line
(2) Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar)-Parbhani doubling
(3) Aluabari Road-New Jalpaiguri third and fourth line
(4) Dangoopi-Jeroli third and fourth lines
Increased line capacity will lead to a significant increase in dynamics, resulting in improvement in the operational efficiency and service credibility of the Indian Railways. These multi-tracking proposals are ready to streamline operations and reduce congestion. These projects are in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s new India view, which will make the people of the region “self -sufficient” through widespread development and will increase their employment/self -employment opportunities.
These projects have been made under the PM-Mati Shakti National Master Plan, whose objective is to increase multi-model connectivity and logistic efficiency through integrated plan and consultation with stakeholders. These projects will provide uninterrupted connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services.
These 4 projects covering 13 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 574 km.
The proposed multi-tracking project will increase connectivity to about 2,309 villages, which have a population of about 43.60 lakhs.
These are the necessary routes for the transport of goods like coal, cement, clinker, gypsum, fly ash, containers, agricultural products and petroleum products etc. As a result of capacity enlargement functions, additional freight of 95.91 MTPA (million tonnes per year) will be traffic. Railways will help in achieving climatic goals and reducing the country’s logistics costs, reducing oil imports (16 million liters) and reducing CO2 emission (515 million kg), which is equivalent to planting 20 million trees.
