Sinwar was killed by the Israeli army on 16 October 2024.
Summer Abu Jamar fled to Türkiye from Gaza
According to several local sources, in the early days of the war, the families of the top officials of Hamas were smuggled out of the Gaza Strip with the help of fake documents, military assistance and foreign contacts. In January, the Israeli army released a footage in which Summer Abu Jamar, widow of Hamas military commander Yahya Sinwar, was seen entering a tunnel of Hamas with her children. According to initial speculation, she became underground. But local sources later told the Israeli news outlet Ynet that Abu Jamar was completely leaving Gaza and living in Türkiye.
Summer Abu Jamar married second marriage in Türkiye
A source said, “He is no longer here – he crossed the Rafa border using a fake passport.” He said that this operation included “high-level coordination, logistics aids and large amounts which are not with the common Gazans.” The source also said that a few months after Sinwar’s Israeli army was killed, Abu Jamar again got married in Türkiye. It is said that this marriage was arranged by Fati Hammad, a senior political bureau member of Hamas, who has been linked to the efforts of Hamas and their families to escape.
There was a dispute over the expensive bag of Summer Abu Jamar
Last year, Abu Jamar faced criticism when he was shown carrying an expensive Hermes Birkin handbag hiding in a tunnel in a video. Najwa Sinwar, wife of Yahya Sinwar’s brother Muhammad Sinwar, is also missing. There is no public record of his hideout in recent months. Local sources believe that she too left Gaza with her children before her husband’s death and went to Turkey. Israeli security officials have confirmed that the two women had gone out of Gaza via Rafa crossing before killing their husbands.
