New Delhi
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit India later this year, despite increasing global stress due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the sharp objections of the US-Nato. His visit will be held in connection with the India-Russia annual summit, which will be held in New Delhi for the first time since 2021. The journey is taking place at a time when the countries involved in the US and NATO are constantly increasing the ban on Russia and pressurizing India to reconsider Russian defense and energy cooperation.
According to sources, during this conference, issues such as cooperation in the defense industry, partnership in energy, nuclear power cooperation, expansion of India’s role in the Arctic sector and work on joint roadmap in the high-tech sector will be discussed. Recently, Putin revealed that at the request of Prime Minister Modi, Russia has increased fertilizer exports to India, which strengthened Indian food security. At the same time, the process of finalizing the second place of the new nuclear plant between India and Russia can also be completed during this summit.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday that the India-Russia summit is important. The last time it happened in Moscow, now it is India. The dates will be decided by mutual consent.
Why does America and NATO object?
Despite Western sanctions against Russia, India has continued oil purchases and defense partnership from Russia. The United States wants India to keep distance from Russia, especially in high -tech and military matters. At the same time, the NATO country is worried that this attitude of India can weaken the strategy of the G7 and the Western world. However, India has clarified that India sets its foreign policy independently. Russia is an old and reliable colleague.
Putin supported India before Operation Sindoor
The last conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Putin took place just before Operation Sindoor. Russia supported India’s retaliation against terrorism. Russian defense systems played an important role in this military campaign. The Russian S-400 missile defense system and the Indo-Russia United BrahMos project defeated Pakistan. These systems neutralized Pakistan’s China -made military capabilities to a great extent.
Modi-Putin meeting can also be held at SCO Summit
If Prime Minister Modi attends the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in China, then it is also possible to meet his Putin separately there.
