Gwalior
A big step has been taken in the city towards getting rid of waste and a clean environment. The second largest waste based CBG (Compressed Biogas) plant in Madhya Pradesh proposed by Municipal Corporation Gwalior will now be set up on Kedarpur dumpside. The cost of building this plant will be around Rs 75 crore and it will be prepared on about 5.5 hectares of land.

Project got approval

Additional Commissioner of Gwalior Municipal Corporation Munish Singh Sikarwar informed that the project has been approved by the government and tenders will be issued soon for its construction. This plant will process 350 tonnes of wet and dried waste in the city. Out of this, bio -CNG gas and manure will be prepared from wet waste. The plant will produce about 9 tonnes of bio CNG gas per day, which will be used in municipal vehicles and will also be sold commercially. This will give additional revenue to the Municipal Corporation.

A separate plant will be built for dried waste

Additionally, separate plants will also be set up for 277 tonnes of dried waste, which will execute plastic and other recycling materials. This scheme will not only get rid of the garbage heap, but will also strengthen the cleanliness campaign. Earlier this plant was to be set up in the Chanduakhurd dumpyard, but due to land shortage and local disputes, the location has been changed to Kedarpur. This landfield site is now gradually getting empty, which made it possible to build the plant here.

Plant to be built in 5 and a half hectares
To prepare this plant, the Municipal Corporation will have to spend a significant amount. According to the Additional Commissioner, it will cost about Rs 75 crore to build this plant. The land was proposed by the corporation to the Chanduakhurd dump yard to prepare the West based CBG plant. But here it was decided to change due to lack of land and local disputes and now it was decided to put it on Kedarpur dumpside. This plant will be set up on about 5.5 hectares of land.
