Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has disqualified 14 candidates for not giving correct details of election expenses in the Bhopal Municipal Corporation elections held in June 2022. Of these, 12 candidates have been banned for two years, while 2 have been banned for five years.

Under Section 14A of the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, it is mandatory for each candidate participating in the councilor election to file a details of all the expenses from the date of nomination to the announcement of the election result within 30 days. The Commission found that these candidates did not provide details of election expenses despite being given several opportunities. Bhopal Deputy District Election Officer Madhya Pradesh Deepak Pandey said that the State Election Commission has carried out this action. ,
