The water Ganga enrichment campaign, run to bring the old water structures of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to the same form, has also returned the old splendor with the new life to the Ramayana-era Laxman Bawdi of Ujjain. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has appreciated this magnificent work. It is noteworthy that in the past, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had reached Lakshmi Bawdi in Chintaman during his stay in Ujjain and started the renovation work by worshiping in the Bawdi festival.
Laxman Bawdi located at Chintaman Temple in Ujjain was also done cleaning, coloring and revival. Ancient Laxman Bawdi is a very important religious and mythological site. This stepwell is also mentioned in many ancient texts. According to public faith, its water has been considered sacred and miraculous. This Bawdi is situated on the land of Ujjain since the Ramayana period and has remained the center of local people. But due to lack of maintenance over time, it had lost its original form.
After the work done at Laxman Bawdi under the Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign, Bawdi got a revival. With the Bhagirathi efforts, this ancient stepwell has again returned to its mythological form and has been established as the center of faith. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav himself reached this place during the “Bawdi festival”, he inspected, worshiped Bawdi and also gave the message of water conservation. Under the water Ganga enhancement campaign in the state, millions of water structures have been renovated and revived. The campaign will be conducted by June 30.
It is noteworthy that under the water Ganga enhancement campaign in the state, ancient stepwells have been found at many places. The district administration has done priority to cleanliness work with public participation for their protection. On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the water Ganga enrichment campaign was started on March 30 Gudi Padwa New Year Pratipada across the state.
