The stream of development is now taking permanent form in tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh. At one time, where there was a long wait for drinking water and covering a distance of several kilometers, there was the truth of rural life, now the tribal -dominated village of Shahdol district has been enriched with water facility from every house tap. This change is not just a physical facility, but an important aspect related to respect, empowerment and overall development of the tribal community.

Under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ and the Earth Aba Tribal Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, the supply of pure drinking water from the tap has been ensured up to 162 houses of village Zarwahi. Under this mission, not only the facility of drinking water was increased, but also aspects like health, sanitation, education and women empowerment have been strengthened.

Priority to tribal areas under the leadership of Chief Minister
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state government is working on many schemes to raise the standard of living of tribal society. Familiarity has been launched by adopting a separate approach to tribal dominated areas, programs like ‘Dharti Aba Tribal Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’ have been started, which aim to develop basic facilities as well as developing a sense of self-esteem and self-reliance.

Gram Jarwahi has emerged as a strong example of this approach, women and children here no longer have to go far and wide for water. Clean water from the tap is now opening the door of possibilities, not only facilities in their lives.

Confidence increased when water reaches
The women of the village say that the first day’s time was spent in bringing water. Now due to the available water from tap at home, it has become easy to balance children’s education and family responsibilities. Clean water has also improved health, and diseases have been prevented. This is not just a convenience, but a move towards a safe and dignified life.

Tribal dignity gets base
For the upliftment of the tribal community, the government is doing the work of effectively connecting the mainstream of development by making schemes. Efforts such as Jal Life Mission and Utkarsh Abhiyan are setting new standards of fair development and social harmony in these areas.
