With the aim of increasing the facility of voters and simplifying the polling day, the Election Commission has issued two more comprehensive instructions. These include providing mobile deposit facilities outside polling stations and simplification of publicity rules. These instructions are in line with the relevant provisions of the Public Representation Act, 1951 and Election Operations Rules, 1961.
Keeping in mind the increasing use of mobile phones in urban and rural areas, and voters, especially senior citizens, women and disabled, keeping in mind the difficulties faced in handling mobile phones on polling day, the Commission has decided to allow mobile deposit facilities exactly outside the polling stations. The polling station will be allowed to keep mobile phones only in a closed -off position within a radius of 100 meters. Ordinary Pajanhol boxes or jute bags will be kept near the polling station entrance, in which voters will have to submit their mobile phones. Mobile phone will not be allowed to be taken inside the polling station. However, some polling stations may be exempted from this provision by the Returning Officer based on local adverse conditions. Election Operations Rules 49 M will be strictly applicable to ensure the confidentiality of the voter within the polling station.
Additionally, with the aim of improving arrangements on polling day, the Commission has limited the permission to publicity to 100 meters from the polling station to the distance of 100 meters as per election laws. Election campaign will not be allowed on the polling day within 100 meters of polling station. Therefore, on the polling day, on the polling day, on the polling day, such booths, from which they distribute informal identity slip in the event of official voter information slip (VIS), will now be able to be installed outside the distance of 100 meters from the polling station. The Election Commission under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi is committed to conducting fair elections as per the legal structure and will continue to innovate to increase facilities for voters.
