Raksha Bandhan, a symbol of unwavering relationship, trust and love of brother and sister, was celebrated in a manner and peacefully throughout the district. The sweetness of brother and sister’s love was also very good in the district prison. 898 prisoners pledged to leave the crime by tied Rakhi to the sisters. The district prison provided tents, cold water and syrup etc. in the premises for the sisters. 1549 women and 767 children met the prisoners with 2316 children. On the Raksha Bandhan festival on Saturday morning, rain became an obstacle for some time, but after 10 am, there were long queues of sisters and self -sisters outside the district jail. On every face, the eagerness to meet the captive brother and tie a rakhi on his wrist was visible.
The prison administration installed tents to protect against strong sunlight and heat and coolers were installed for cold air. Officials of the Uttar Pradesh Crime Prevention Committee put cold water and syrup counters outside the prison, so that the people who come to meet can get relief in the summer. Sisters and children were given one packet biscuits and chocolate.
Rakhi, Roli and rice were also provided to the sisters by the jail administration. Jail Superintendent Anshuman Garg said that on the festival of Rakshabandhan, 1549 women and 767 children came to meet 898 captive brothers in the district jail. At the same time, 10 men who came from outside also met special meeting with the jailed sisters and tied Rakhi.
