Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared a financial assistance package of ₹2 crore for the family of Constable Mahesh Nagulwar, who tragically lost his life during an encounter with Naxalites in Gadchiroli district. This gesture underscores the state’s commitment to supporting the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Constable Nagulwar, aged 39, was a dedicated member of the C-60 special commando unit, an elite force renowned for its operations against Maoist insurgents in Maharashtra. On a recent operation in the Fulnar forest area of Bhamragad taluka, the unit successfully dismantled a Maoist camp. During this mission, Nagulwar sustained severe bullet injuries. He was promptly airlifted to the district hospital in Gadchiroli for medical attention. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, marking a profound loss for the state’s security forces.
Chief Minister Fadnavis, who also oversees the Home Department, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He emphasized that Constable Nagulwar’s sacrifice in the pursuit of a Naxal-free India will be eternally remembered. Fadnavis stated, “Constable Nagulwar’s sacrifice in the campaign for a Naxal-free India will never be forgotten. His dedication to the nation will not go in vain.” He also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of the state’s unwavering support during this challenging time.
The announced ex-gratia of ₹2 crore is part of the state’s broader strategy to provide substantial support to the families of security personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.
